DO:

Climb Mount Longonot – a steep hike along the side of the mountain delivers you to an epic crater rim from this old volcano glory days. Try circumnavigating the crater rim and you can do the whole trip (up, around, and down) within 3-4 hours.

Cycle with Giraffes in Hells Gate – explore this epic canyon full of zebra’s, water buffalo, giraffes, and antelope by way of car or bike. If you are feeling more adventurous, navigate your way with a guide through the rivers and canyons below. Also, a great spot for rock climbing. Inspiration for the Lion King!

EAT:

Camp Carnelly’s – our favorite spot for Dawas (Kenyan cocktail of bush honey, vodka, lemon, and soda) and crayfish. Awesome place to chill out for an afternoon and take in some down time.

DRINK:

Camp Carnelly’s – nothing beats a Dawa relaxing in a massive pillow overlooking a beautiful garden along the lake. Simple.

SLEEP:

Lucita Farm Cottages – this sprawling compound has two homes for rent, although the gem is the smaller of the two (two bedrooms with sleeper loft) that is simply adorable. Overlooking a sprawling lawn with massive shade-providing trees keeping a lovely lap pool cool, the house sits on Lake Naivasha. The larger house in the back is also stunning, with lovely rooms and accoutrements. Tennis court, pool, cook, cleaner. Friendly dogs as well that want to cuddle all day.

Ajabu House – beautiful multiple room property, a bit dated, but retains a beautiful historical elegance and sits on 5,500 acres of private conservancy land along Lake Naivasha. The property is lovely, the chefs are beyond talented, but bring bug spray as the mosquitoes are nasty. Tennis court, no pool.

Camp Carnelly’s – this campsite offers cheap digs for camping among massive shade trees and offers an up close experience with hippos in the night (don’t worry, electric fences protect you). For those with a bit more refined approach, there are bungalows available for rental as well.
