DO:

Stroll the historic center, eat ice cream, and then drink caipirinhas.

EAT:

Quintal das Letras – a modern and refined offering, with delicious wines and well prepared dishes. Excellent seafood and incredibly detail oriented.

Margarida Cafe – decent food but old school ambiance that comes alive at night with excellent Brazilian music.

Casa do Fogo – casual dining but spicy and filling seafood!

DRINK:

Margarida Café – listen to music and drink wine.

Casa Coupe Restaurant – great bar for late night drinks near the water.

SHOP:

Richards – think Ralph Lauren meets Brazil beachwear, great threads made locally.

SLEEP:

Pousada Do Sandi – a larger but elegant grand hotel in the historical center of Paraty, bright and colorful with lots of common space. Lovely gardens where a pool once resided, and a cheerful and energetic restaurant Pippo’s which feels straight out of Hollywood (if Hollywood were in Sicily).

Pousada Literaria de Paraty – snuggled behind the modern and beautiful Quintal das Letras restaurant, this place is a hidden gem and the top stay in Paraty. Spacious and modern bungalows spill out into a quiet green space and a lovely lap pool. High marks.

Pousada Do Ouro – an elegant old hotel in the historical centre of Paraty, this place feels a bit older school than the other offerings in town and is a romantic and quiet getaway on the edge of town. Has a secluded pool and a great pool bar.
